What is Remote Function Call (RFC)?
SAP's protocol for calling remote-enabled function modules between SAP systems or external programs.
Variants include synchronous RFC, transactional (tRFC), queued (qRFC), and background RFC. Destinations are configured in SM59. RFC failures are a leading cause of integration test defects after system refreshes.
