What is Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)?
Exchange of business documents between companies in standard formats such as ANSI X12 or EDIFACT.
SAP typically sends and receives EDI through IDocs mapped by middleware or an EDI provider. Common messages are orders, ship notices, and invoices. Partner testing with trading partners is a distinct workstream before cutover.
