What is Background Job?
A program run scheduled to execute without user interaction in a background work process.
Jobs are defined in SM36 and monitored in SM37, with Fiori Application Jobs as a modern alternative. Period-end, interface, and MRP processes often run as jobs. Job chains and variants must be tested and migrated at cutover.
