What is Cost Element?
A CO classification of costs and revenues; in S/4HANA it is a special type of GL account rather than separate master data.
Primary cost elements correspond to P&L accounts; secondary cost elements are used for internal allocations and settlement. In S/4HANA they are maintained in FS00 with a cost element category. Conversion requires mapping legacy secondary cost elements to GL accounts.

Universal Journal
