SAP S/4HANA
What is SAP R/3 (R/3)?
SAP's client-server ERP system from the 1990s whose three-tier architecture underlies ECC and S/4HANA on-premise.
R/3 introduced the presentation, application, and database tier model that SAP NetWeaver ABAP systems still use. The term is still used informally for 'classic' SAP ERP. Concepts such as clients, transports, and transaction codes originate in R/3.
