What is ABAP Platform?

The technical foundation of S/4HANA, succeeding SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP, released in step with each S/4HANA version.

ABAP Platform contains the ABAP runtime, Gateway, Fiori front-end server components, and lifecycle tools. Its release determines available ABAP language features such as RAP. Upgrades to S/4HANA also upgrade ABAP Platform, which affects custom code.
