What is Software Update Manager (SUM)?

SAP's tool for system updates, upgrades, and S/4HANA conversions of ABAP systems.

SUM runs in phases with uptime and downtime parts, guided by a stack XML from Maintenance Planner. It includes SPDD and SPAU adjustment steps. Runtimes from mock runs size the production downtime window.
