Week 11 of 12

Hypercare and the first upgrade

Go-live is not the finish line. Hypercare should run until measurable criteria are met: no open severity 1 for a period, the severity 2 backlog falling, the first payment run, month-end close and tax return completed, interface queues at steady state.

And the next change is already scheduled. Private Edition ships Feature Pack and Support Pack Stacks every six months; Public Edition upgrades twice a year, and it cannot be deferred.

This week: set hypercare exit criteria and plan the first release

  1. Agree hypercare exit criteria with the sponsor before go-live, and plan for at least one month-end close inside hypercare.
  2. Monitor technical KPIs daily: IDocs in error, failed jobs, update errors, dumps, blocked invoices, credit-blocked orders.
  3. Turn every confirmed hypercare defect into a regression test, so it cannot come back.
  4. Put the first post-go-live release on the calendar with its regression scope and owner.
