What is Planned Independent Requirement (PIR)?
A forecasted demand quantity for a finished product used by MRP to plan production before orders exist.
PIRs are maintained manually or transferred from demand planning. Planning strategies define how actual orders consume them. Consumption logic is a key planning test.
