Reading a process for testing

  • Map the scenario first: scenario → process → step → document; mark each handoff.
  • Find the standard: Process Navigator in SAP for Me; search the scope item (BD9 Sell from Stock, J45 Procurement of Direct Materials); match product and release.
  • Adapt the test script: Contoso org units, data, extra steps; specific expected results.
  • Preconditions per step: org units and assignments, business partner roles, product views, condition records, open period, number ranges, user role.
  • Integration points: does the step change stock, post to accounting, or send or receive anything?
  • Verify downstream with document flow, PO history and journal entries, with values.
  • Record which interfaces were real and which were simulated.
  • Traceability sketch: one row per step with requirement, test case and downstream check; empty cells are findings.
