Week 2 of 12
Who owns testing under RISE
RISE with SAP bundles software, infrastructure, technical operations and tools. It is easy to assume testing comes with it. It does not.
SAP’s Roles and Responsibilities document for S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition is the contractual record of who does what. Regression and functional testing appear only as paid packaged services, run against test cases you provide. SAP executes technical upgrades; testing and validation stay with you.
This week: settle ownership before anyone assumes it
- Get the current Roles and Responsibilities document for your contract and highlight every row that mentions testing, validation or upgrades.
- Decide, explicitly, whether you will buy SAP’s packaged regression service, use your systems integrator, or staff it in house. Put the cost in the business case.
- Fill in the Testing CoE RACI so every testing activity has exactly one accountable owner.
- Take the one-line version to your steering committee: RISE moves infrastructure and technical upgrades to SAP, not the responsibility for proving your processes work.
