Week 6 of 8
Integrations, spokes and ERP
Integration Hub spokes come from the ServiceNow Store, each with its own version and list of compatible families. They do not move in lockstep with your family upgrade, so an integration can break in a week when nobody planned a test.
ServiceNow also reaches deeper into ERP than it used to. ERP Canvas connects to SAP ECC and S/4HANA, Oracle E-Business Suite and Workday, and it can update SAP tables as well as read them. Finance and Supply Chain workflows such as Accounts Payable Operations exchange data with your financial systems.
This week: inventory every integration and test it end to end
- List every integration: spoke or custom REST/SOAP, direction, MID Server, credential alias, partner system and owner.
- Record each spoke’s version and confirm it lists your target family as compatible before the upgrade.
- For ERP-connected flows, write end-to-end tests that start in ServiceNow and check the result in the ERP, and agree who owns them with the ERP team.
- Plan positive, negative and failure tests: expired credentials, a partner system that is down, a malformed payload.
- After every clone, confirm integrations point at non-production partners before the first test runs.
