Week 2 of 8
Rank your manufacturing processes
Your test scope should be a list of end-to-end processes, not a list of screens. In a manufacturer that means plan to produce first: the MRP run, order release, material issue, operation reporting and receipt. Then order to cash, procure to pay, inventory, quality and month-end.
The ranking matters because time is short. Panorama’s 2026 ERP Report put the median ERP project at nine months. That leaves no room to test everything equally.
This week: list your top 25 processes and score them
- List end-to-end processes and their variants: make-to-stock, make-to-order, subcontracting, scrap and rework, returns, intercompany.
- Score each one for business risk, how often it changes and how often it runs. Risk times (change plus run) gives a ranking you can defend.
- Note the forms, programs or sessions each one touches (CSI forms, M3 programs, LN sessions) so testers know where to start. Verify the names in your release.
- Every Critical process must be in SIT, in UAT and in the regression suite. Mark the gaps now.

Next week: tenants and refreshes. One refresh a month, and it can erase things you meant to keep.
