Testing Financial Close and Reporting in SAP S/4HANA

Keep this: job aid

Close testing card

  • Test close as a sequence on a real QAS period: cutoff, subledgers, accruals, controlling, valuation, reporting, lock.
  • Write expected results before the mock close, from test inputs and agreed accounting rules.
  • Run at least two mock closes with the real owners and production job variants.
  • Key tasks: OB52 periods, AFAB depreciation, KO88 settlement, FAGL_FCV valuation, FAGLGVTR carryforward (or their Fiori equivalents).
  • Universal journal removes FI-CO reconciliation; still reconcile AR, AP, GR/IR, inventory, assets, bank, intercompany.
  • Explain differences to the cent: valuation adjustments, special G/L items, migration, regrouping.
  • Reports: balanced (and per segment), no unassigned accounts, P&L ties to equity, comparatives right.
  • Never derive expected values from the system under test.
  • Risks: rate types, rounding residuals, period controls, special periods, close authorizations, job variants.
  • Sign-off: any balance traceable to an expectation, a reconciliation and the journal entries.
