S/4HANA at a glance: what applies to my system

• Release name: a year (2025) means on-premise or Private Edition; yymm (2608) means Public Edition.
• Check Fiori user menu → About, or SAP GUI System → Status, for the release.
• On-premise and Private Edition: new release every two years, upgrades planned by you (with SAP for Private Edition).
• Public Edition: SAP upgrades every customer in February and August, with hotfix collections in between.
• Finance postings live in the Universal Journal (ACDOCA); stock is derived from material documents (MATDOC).
• Use real-time reports filtered on your test documents as sign-off evidence.
• List every custom extension and its clean core level before an upgrade; test the risky ones explicitly.
• Test the screens people actually use: Fiori app, SAP GUI transaction, or both.
