Document Splitting and Segment Reporting

Document splitting cheat sheet

  • Goal: every document balances per segment and profit center, so full balance sheets exist per characteristic.
  • Entry view = what was entered. G/L view = what was split. Always read the G/L view.
  • Active split: rules split payables and tax by expense or revenue base lines.
  • Passive split: payments and clearing copy the split of the cleared document.
  • Inheritance on; default account assignment only as a monitored safety net.
  • Zero-balancing adds clearing lines; the clearing account totals zero per company code.
  • Rejected posting? Check derivation, then document type classification, then the rule.
  • Test multi-segment invoices, partial payments, residuals, reversals and logistics documents.
  • Evidence: trial balance by segment and by profit center, each balanced; default value clean.
